Safrican Life Insurance was established in 1932, at which time the company focused on selling funeral insurance policies at reasonable rates. The company was acquired by HCI Group in 1971 and became a subsidiary of Safrican Life Investment Holdings Limited, a strategic alliance which led to the rapid expansion into the group funeral market.
